The National Community Policing Foundation Inc. is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization operating under the auspices of The Miami Foundation founded in 2019 by a group of active as well as retired police executives. These distinguished police executives concur with the findings of The Presidential Task Force on 21st Century Policing which embraces a police guardian mindset rather than the warrior posture. The articles of incorporation state;
The foundation was formed as an organization to advance the practice of community policing by enhancing the knowledge, skills and abilities of police officers in the public safety arena with an emphasis on the areas of residential, business and personal security as well as drug and drug paraphernalia recognition.
We believe that police officers will be best viewed as legitimate guardians of the community if they possess and freely share with the public, information and advice as well as tips and techniques in regards to their safety and security and the safety, security and well-being of their loved ones.
To this end the National Community Policing Foundation through a structured academic curriculum coupled with a crime prevention exhibition hall and on-line support component seeks to provide police officers with a solid platform and foundation to appraise the public of the various tools, methods or techniques used to enhance, create or maintain a safer environment.
On line support component:
The on-line support component consists of a Progressive Public Safety section as well as a Web-Alerts section.
The Progressive Public Safety section is designed to support trained community police practitioners as it reinforces and expounds on the subject matter presented in the 40-hour community policing practitioner class. In addition to providing information on learned subject matter this component provides a medium for the introduction of new technology, hardware and techniques in the public safety arena.
Although this section was designed as a support mechanism for the trained practitioner it is publicly accessible should interested community members choose to avail themselves of this information. To do this, under the Progressive Public Safety banner simply click on the box containing your area of specific interest to learn more about this specific subject.
The Web-Alerts section contains a compilation of significant recent and/or ongoing nefarious activities that are trending in local or other communities. This section is divided into 3 categories which are labeled, Criminal Trends and
Scams, Dangerous teen activities and Safety Advisories and is designed to provide interested users with details, specifics and particulars in regard to relevant contemporary dangers, risks, or hazards. To access this information, click on the area of interest under the Web-Alerts banner.
